In comparison to 1980s, there was only one tropical cyclone Hurricane Bret, caused landfall on the coast of Texas in 1990s. In the next decade, five hurricanes affected Texas and the second costliest hurricane that caused huge destruction was Hurricane Ike in Texas. The other hurricane in this decade was Tropical Storm Allison and Hurricane Rita.
The recent Hurricane Harvey in 2017 was the scariest and costliest till now and has made landfall near the cost of Rockport and was a category 4 hurricane. It also produced heavy and unprecedented rainfall the major areas of Southern Texas. The catastrophic flooding has covered dozens of surrounding counties including Houston and Harris County.
